Phaskowa Tea Estate, Dooars
Phaskowa Tea Estate is situated near forests and one may witness a herd of elephants strolling. Lucky ones can come across a glimpse of the Leopard. One can have a safari arranged to Buxa Tiger Reserve, Jainti caves or visit Jaldapara wildlife or Gorumara reserve for viewing One Horned Asian Rhino. One can visit princely state of Cooch Behar for visit to the Royal Palace or visit the neighboring country of Bhutan and the entry is through the quaint town of Phuentsholling with its beautiful monasteries. This is also paradise for birdwatcher with the chirping and whistling of unknown birds can be heard at Rashikbill Bird Sanctuary. Rivers & streams, gushing and gurgling and diversified flora and the fauna are all reasons to visit these nice destinations. Virgin forests are also the settlements of small tribes like Toto, Mech, Rava, Oraon, Munda, etc. The food is good and the people warm. One can also have a hike to nearby places through the garden and have a look into the tribal settlements even the vanishing tribes of Toto known as Totopara. Jaldapara / Gorumara visit is also possible from here. There are few watch towers which can be used as safari points like Chuk Chuki, Jatraprasad, Medhla, Chapramari, etc from Gorumara. Safari is organized by the state government and tickets are issued daily. June 15 to September 15 the forest remain closed annually. The activities around here includes visit to tribal homes or villages short walks and birding. One can also spend time angling in nearby spots with prior notice.
