Murshidabad
It was once upon a time the capital of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and the place of the Nawabs. Situated at a distance of 215 kilometers from Kolkata the place is the last independent state before the East India Company occupies India in 1757. The first capital of British India was established in Berhampore. Murshidabad palace is a magnificent building in Italian style. The city still bears memories of Nawabs with other palaces, mosques, tombs, and gardens.

By Air – Murshidabad is nearly equidistant from Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri and Netaji Subhas Bose International airport in Kolkata. Its 428 kilometers, 7 to 8 hours drive by road or rail to Bagdogra airport and 240 kilometers from Netaji Subhas Bose International airport in Kolkata
By Rail – Lalgola Passenger and Bhagirathi Express leave for Murshidabad from the Sealdah station in Kolkata. Long distance trains are also available to and from Beharampur.
By Road – It is nearly 428 kilometers, 5 – 6 hours drive by road to either Siliguri or 240 kilometers from Kolkata. Direct bus service is available for Siliguri, Kolkata, Balurghat, Malda, Jalpaiguri etc.
