Mon
Mon brings to one’s mind, pictures of Chiefs, tattooed faces of Konyaks and muzzle loading guns which the ingenious Konyaks manufacture. It is 57 kilometers from Kohima via Dimapur and 280 kilometers from Dimapur. Mon headquarters, home of the Konyaks, was established at Chen and Mon villages land; being centrally located for the coronation of Angs (Chiefs).
It is an exiting experience to pay a visit to Ang’s house at Chui, Mon, Sheangha, Chinyu, Wakching nd Japoka. The most colourful festival of the Konyaks – Aoling Monyu is observed during the first week of April (1-3) and is spectacle worth a watch.

By Air – Mon to Dimapur is 280 kilometers. There are over 9 domestic flights per week from Dimapur and connects with 2 cities nonstop. Dimapur has the only airport in Nagaland. Indian Airlines plies four flights a week to Dimapur from Kolkata & Delhi. The airport is 70 kilometers from Dimapur.
By Rail - Mon to Dimapur is 280 kilometers. The nearest railhead is Dimapur, and the Northeast Frontier Railway runs a number of trains from Dimapur to Guwahati. Guwahati is well connected to the rest of the country.
By Road - Mon to Dimapur is 280 kilometers. Mon is well connected with Kohima by bus at a distance of 275 kilometers. Mon to Tuensang via Mokokchung is 377 Kilometers, Mon to Phek via Kohima is 499 Kilometers, Mon to Zunheboto via Mokokchang is 292 Kilometers, Mon to Wokha via Mokokchung is 294 Kilometers and Mokokchung to Mon is 222 Kilometers. State Transport run regular bus services between Dimapur and Kohima and also between all major towns and villages. Taxi service is also available at any time during the day. Private vehicles are also available.
