Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary
It is a sanctuary in South Tripura district located in south east corner of the state. It has an area of 389.54 square kilometers. Adjoining to the sanctuary there is a vast water reservoir / sparkling water body covering approximately 300 square kilometers. The lake not only presents a breathtaking spectacle that accentuates the virgin natural beauty of the surroundings, it is also haunted by several species of domestic as well as migratory aquatic birds that seek refuge in the waters during the chilly European winters. The sanctuary is also home to a vast and diversified flora and fauna. Reptiles are also found aplenty in the reserve.
The water reservoir attracts many resident and migratory water birds. It has elephants, Bison, Sambhar, barking Deer, Wild Goat or Sarow apart from many other animals and reptiles. The sanctuary can be approached via Ambassa and Gandachara or via Ambasa – Jatanbari.

To Reach
By Air - It is 100 kilometers from Agartala. Agartala is connected by airlines flights with Calcutta, Guwahati and Delhi. One can easily reach the Udaipur by road from Agartala.
By Rail - The two nearest railway stations are Kumarghat and Dharama Nagar. One can take a bus or taxi from Udaipur to reach the station.
By Road - The sanctuary is almost 100 kilometers away from Agartala. The distance between the Matabari to Gumati Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately 20 kilometers. The sanctuary can be approached via Ambassa and Gandachara or via Amarpur - Jatanbari. is well connected by bus with the major cities of North East India. Tripura State Transport Corporation buses ply towards different places of North East. Local Transport – Private taxis, auto rickshaws and city bus service are available from Agartala Airport.
